Architecture

Buenos Aires Museum of Contemporary Art is a competition based project that looks at the Puerto Madero cultural district of Buenos Aires.

For the context of this project, the museum represents a series of  spaces dedicated for the exhibition of art, usually visual art, both maintained and rotating.   Paintings and sculptures are the most commonly displayed art objects; however, drawings, collages, prints, photographs and installation art including other artistic activities, such as performance art, land art, internet art are also regularly shown.

The New Contemporary Art Museum occupies a significant portion of the Río de la Plata riverbank and represents the latest architectural culture in Buenos Aires.

The project looks to achieve 3 primary goals:

(1)  Encourage an integrated design experience that operates within the art world, locally & globally.

(2)  Generate a discussion of ideas regarding the functionality of art and the typology of an exhibition space.

(3)  Encourage the employment of design experience that mediates a diverse historic and cultural urban district.
